About The Utah List
A curated, community-verified map of Utah's software ecosystem — from Jon Jessup.
Inspired by Gregslist, built for Utah
The Utah List is a pet project of Jon Jessup, a multiple-time software founder and CEO. Jon has been friends with Greg Head for more than 15 years and has always been intrigued by what Greg built with Gregslist — a personally curated directory of the local software industry that founders, investors, operators, and job seekers actually rely on.
Utah has one of the most active software communities in the country, but it didn't have a single, current, curated list of its software companies, their founders and teams, and investors. So Jon started one.
Why not "JonsList"?
We'll be honest — "JonsList" doesn't quite roll off the tongue the way Gregslist does. So this is The Utah List: named for the community it serves, in the spirit of the original.
Park City since 2005
Jon moved to Park City, Utah in 2005 and started his first company there in 2008. He's been part of the Utah tech / Silicon Slopes community ever since — through booms, busts, relocations, and the steady drumbeat of new software companies being founded across the Wasatch Front and beyond.
Connector across the ecosystem
Jon spends most of his time connecting people across the tech ecosystem — founders and investors, startups and enterprise buyers, operators and service-based businesses that support them. The Utah List is an extension of that work, and a gift to the Utah tech and Silicon Slopes community: a shared, sourced, up-to-date place to find who is building what, who backed them, and who to talk to.
Quoted in the Wall Street Journal
Jon was quoted by The Wall Street Journal in "Tech Workers Take to the Mountains, Bringing Silicon Valley With Them" — on the migration of software talent to mountain towns like Park City.
