Every profile on The Utah List carries a verification label, a company status, and a Utah relationship. Here's what each label means and how we assign it.
Verification labels
Where the information came from and how recently a curator confirmed it.
- Verified
- A curator or the company itself confirmed this profile against primary sources within the last verification cycle.
- Confirmed by company
- Someone at the company confirmed these details directly.
- Recently researched
- A curator recently researched this profile against public sources like the company's site and LinkedIn.
- Community submitted
- A community member submitted this info. It hasn't been reviewed by a curator yet.
- Unverified
- Something on this profile may be stale or incomplete. It's queued for a curator to review.
- Unverified
- This record was imported from an older list and hasn't been re-checked. Some fields may be out of date.
- Unverified
- We couldn't confirm this company against public sources. Details may be outdated or incorrect.
Company status
Whether the company is operating today, and how it got to its current state.
- Active
- Independent and operating as of the last check.
- Public
- Publicly traded — shares trade on a public exchange.
- Active (Acquired)
- Still operating as a distinct product or brand after being acquired.
- Merged
- Combined with another company; original entity no longer operates independently.
- Rebranded
- Continues to operate under a new name.
- Acquired & Sunset
- Acquired and later shut down or absorbed into the acquirer.
- Dormant
- Legally exists but shows no visible activity. May return or wind down.
- Closed
- Wound down or dissolved. No longer operating.
- Unable to verify
- We couldn't confirm the current operating status from public sources.
- Candidate
- Nominated for inclusion. A curator hasn't approved it for the public list yet.
Utah relationship
How a company connects to Utah — headquarters, origin, or a meaningful office.
- Headquartered in Utah
- Global headquarters are in Utah.
- Founded in Utah
- Started in Utah, even if the HQ has since moved elsewhere.
- Major Utah office
- HQ is outside Utah, but a significant office or team is based here.
- Small or remote presence
- A handful of employees, a satellite office, or distributed Utah-based staff.
- No longer based in Utah
- Once had a meaningful Utah presence, but no longer operates here.
